As you might have seen on Instagram a few weeks ago, my family and I were invited to visit the Four Seasons Washington, D.C. for a weekend away from all the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, in celebration of their Hotel On Ice, a unique excursion that included a family dinner inside of one of the city’s most exclusive heated ice domes at Bourbon Steak, an iced spa treatment and iced wine at ENO Wine Bar.
When you stay at the Four Seasons, you know you’re in for the most impeccable experience from the beginning to the end of your stay. Four Seasons is synonymous with luxury, comfort and the highest standard of customer service. I understand all of this, yet I was still mesmerized and I’m reminded of how much I love feeling disconnected from the city every once and a while and just how I much I needed to live completely in the present with my family.
I began our staycation immediately with a spa treatment while Dave and the kids enjoyed taking a dip at the swimming pool. I was treated to the Fire and Ice Facial. This complete customized hot and cold sensation facial lifts the skin with advanced muscle-relaxing neuropeptides. The facial included a luxury hand and neck massage treatment, which in my opinion—made this facial the best facial I’ve ever experienced. The application of icy Cyro-Globes over my face and neck reduced puffiness and truly tightened and softened my skin. I had never experienced anything like this treatment. My skin looked so renewed, I received so many compliments on my facial glow for days, even without makeup!
The hotel rooms and suites are neutral, yet classically decorated—a luxurious hotel room at it’s finest that lives up to the Four Seasons reputation. We were treated to a wonderful surprise—decorated tents for Ella and Logan that included games and coloring books. The kids entertained themselves for hours, no fussing, no tablets and just pure, old fashioned fun. They definitely felt like they were on a vacation far away from our normal day to day.
If you follow me on Instagram, I took you on a quick tour of our family’s suite in stories and gave you a closer peek inside of the ice domes before dinner.
Our meal at Bourbon Steak, inside the Four Seasons Georgetown, is one of the best family dinners we’ve ever experienced in our entire lives. Dining at Bourbon Steak really is a very special treat! Even if you’re a local or visiting D.C. and aren’t staying at the hotel, Bourbon Steak is a MUST for dinner and drinks.
This holiday season, the ice domes are a huge attraction and book up quickly. There are three of them, each individually decorated to suit a different mood. The ice domes are situated within the courtyard between the restaurant and the day spa. Our dinner was served inside the ice dome decorated with buffalo checkered wool blankets and wintery light faux fur throws. There was something both masculine and feminine about the ambience of it all. My husband, kids and I all enjoyed the comfortable and festive decor and the cozy home like feel while dining al fresco in the beginning of the holiday season.
Prior to checking out, we had Sunday brunch at Seasons, located on the lower level inside the hotel. The restaurant serves an all you can eat buffet of the most delicious breakfast items you can imagine. Before I had a complete “lay of the land,” Dave had already filled his plate with all sorts of seafood goodies and a made to order omelet. Ella was in dessert heaven and marveling over all of the little cakes, pies, danishes, cupcakes and custards she could have. I couldn’t wait to dive into the seafood tower including oysters and nova salmon. Logan had a bit of everything on the menu. We were only half way thru our meal when we made reservations for the next time.
We only spent 24 hours during our staycation, but it was the respite our family needed to press our recharge and refresh buttons and leaving us relaxed and ready for the holidays.
I hope you’re all having a beautiful December so far and if you’re looking to travel to or stay in D.C., I highly recommend staying at the Four Seasons.
