If you’re in need of a delicious brunch that is sure to satisfy your comfort food cravings and you live in the Ashburn area, Baker’s Crust should be at the top of your list. Hearth-baked, European style artisan breads are at the heart of Baker’s Crust. Everything, including the breads, pastries and desserts, are made from scratch. The Virginia based chain has evolved from a self-service, 36-seat sandwich and breakfast spot to a full service restaurant, servicing breakfast, lunch and dinner, and dessert seven days a week.
My good friend Sarah Grojean of the wildly popular blog, Capital Moms invited me and fellow parenting blogger Patty of Fairfax Family Funto an amazing Sunday brunch at Baker’s Crust in Ashburn, Virginia. It was a central meeting point for the three of us and Baker’s Crust sponsored our blogger brunch.
Is there a more enjoyable way to dine and sample than covering a table with small plates and sharing each entree? We kicked off our brunch with tuna poke and fresh cut fries with aioli sauce. And because as bloggers, sampling almost everything on the menu is part of our job—we decided to keep it simple this time and order just a few main courses to share.
We happily spent a few hours at Baker’s Crust sipping iced tea, noshing on several dishes including The Swanky—one of their signature dishes—buttermilk fried chicken, applewood smoked bacon, arugula and lemon oil on a house-made sweet potato biscuit topped with two poached eggs, hollandaise, paprika, and served with hash browns. Another dish that came highly recommended was the Frisco Turkey Cobb Salad with turkey breast, applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, hard-boiled egg, gorgonzola, avocado, mixed greens, herb buttermilk dressing. Our waiter’s personal favorite, the Asiago Chicken, grilled chicken with mushrooms, applewood smoked bacon, oven- roasted tomatoes, asparagus, asiago cream sauce, orzo pasta tasted like a little slice of heaven. We finished our sampler with the house burger that was cooked to perfection with muenster, tomato, grilled red onion, roasted red pepper aioli, lettuce, brioche roll. If that wasn’t enough, we were then treated to several gooey, yummy desserts!
The service was good and the food and drinks were worth the thirty minute drive from DC!
