Matchbox Is Still One of My Favorite Restaurants In DC Area

Matchbox is still one of my favorite restaurants in the DC area for dining out with my family. “Where should I eat?” is the is the question I get asked the most on a daily basis. Depending on if the person wants a dine-in experience or a fast-casual place, I usually recommend Matchbox. The restaurant offers the best of both worlds for parents and their kids. This is there perfect place where adults can grab a great meal, possibly enjoy a glass of wine or a beer and watch the game with their families. The food is slowly cooked and is oh-so-good! My family’s favorites include the wood fired pizza, the baby-back ribs, the tuna tartar tacos, the salmon with risotto and so much more!

I recently had the pleasure of taking over the Matchbox369 Instagram account earlier this week. In case you missed it—you can head over to my Instagram account and check it out under Highlights.

There are some great specials taking place from now until the end of the year and I wanted to able to share them with you!

November and December: Matchbox launches Brunchbox, an unlimited selection of small plates for $31.50, plus classic mimosas and bloody marys for $3 each at the VA and MD locations, or $17 per person for endless mimosas and bloodies at the DC locations (whole table must participate; 2 hour maximum). And great news for parents: kids 6 and under eat free, and kids 7-12 can enjoy the menu for $12.95. A few highlights include veggie hash with poached egg, hollandaise, butternut squash and mushroom; blueberry muffin French toast with lemon curd and salted almond streusel; and fried chicken & grits with andouille sausage, butter sauce and sunny side egg.

From November 23 to 25: All Matchbox locations open at 10am on Black Friday for brunch, and through the weekend offers a Thanksgiving Leftover Pizza on its signature thin crispy crust topped with favorite leftover ingredients from Turkey Day. Mashed potatoes serve as the base for pulled turkey, sweet corn and sharp cheddar cheese, topped off with crispy onion straws and a drizzle of cranberry red wine sauce. $14.50 for a small; $21.50 for a large.

On December 15, Matchbox will host Brunch with Santa from 10am-noon, featuring photos with Jolly Old Saint Nick, cookie decorating, a hot chocolate bar, holiday crafts and more. The menu features Matchbox favorites served buffet-style, like chicken & waffles, mini burritos, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit platters, cornbread, biscuits with honey butter and mimosas for the parents. Adults are $29, kids 12 and under are $15, and children under 3 are free. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and are available at all Matchbox locations here.
